I have always had a passion for helping people to feel good. As a BSN graduate from Duke University with over 30 years of experience working with people coping with long-term consequences from various chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease and COPD my interests shifted towards prevention and health promotion.
When I learned about nutrition while getting certified as a diabetes educator, I realized the mistakes I was making in my own eating habits. I discovered that the intermittent periods of fatigue I experienced at times were directly related to my food choices. I also realized that, despite my 30 minutes of intensive interval workout on my elliptical, I wasn’t losing weight and my family history of Type 2 diabetes was just beginning to appear in my own blood sugar numbers.
With my knowledge, personal journey and practical views on how to eat healthy, I have led health seminars and weight management groups at many businesses. But what I enjoy most, is working with individuals so that they can find their unique healthy way that will get them started on their healthy weight today!
